Kudos for Compton
No, this is not a line at Magic Mountain. It’s the Los Angeles Superior Court in the city of Compton.
The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department created the Compton Violent Gang Task Force at the start of the new year. According to police statistics, 72 gang related slayings occured in the surrounding area last year, compared to 39 such homicides in 2004.
There has been one gang related homicide since January 1st, 2006, compared to 16 over the same period last year. Already authorities have made 221 felony arrests, 188 misdemeanor arrests and seized 100 firearms.
Well at least you can’t say they are not trying.
