Skills for Anger Management -Listening

As educators and counselor we often assume every one understand how to put into action simple terms such as communicate, forgive, espress your feelings. In truth these terms are often foreign to many. In an effort to break down and explain few tasks often given in an anger management class I am starting a series of short blogs called Skills for Anger Management. These skills will provide the reader with simple steps in an effort to them manage anger.
Listening
1. Look at the person who is talking
Face the person: establish eye contact.
2. Think about what is being said.
Show this by nodding your head, Saying “mm-hmm.”
3. Wait your turn to talk.
Don’t fidget; don’t shuffle your feet.
4. Say what you want to say.
Ask questions; express feelings; express ideas.
