There is great consensus the a vital part of managing anger is the expression of feelings. Many anger management experts describe anger as a secondary emotion. In other words there is always a primary emotion of feeling that precedes anger. An anger management class is designed to encourage individuals to communicate and express their emotions, but many clients find it difficult. The following steps are offered to help clients develop the skill of expression.

Exxpressing Feelings

1. Tune in to what is going on in your body.

2. Decide what happedn to make you feel that way.

3. Decide what you are feeling.

Happy, Sad, Nervous, Dissapointed, Embarrased, Frustrated, Disrespected, Jealous, etc.

4. Think about the different way to express your feelings and pick one.

Talk about it, Go for a run, Do some writing, Blog, Consider the right time and the right place to discuss your feelings.
