Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger candidates for Anger Management
“You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being. I don’t give a damn that you’re 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you’re a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do as far as I’m concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone.” – Alec Baldwin on his 11-year-old daughter’s voicemail.
As a former probation officer and children’s social worker I’ve met some angry people, but few compare to those individuals embroiled in a custody battle. The fight for a child seems to bring the worst out of people.
Currently 15% of my anger management clients are referred by the family law court. Ordinarily loving parents are transformed into psychotic manipulative predators. The child is often reduced to a meat to be rangled over.
It is not rare for parents to rage within the court room as they hurl accusations back and forth toward one atother. Can you imagine what takes place outside the prescence of a judge?
Anger Management Classes can be an effective tool in teaching parents how to negotiate child custody issues.
